Joshua Lee Solomon, Ph.D.

Lecturer

Joshua Lee Solomon is a Lecturer in the Institute for the Promotion of Higher Education. He teaches English at the English Lounge, as well as general English classes in the Liberal Arts program at Hirosaki University. He earned his Ph.D. in East Asian Languages and Civilizations from the University of Chicago in 2017. His research interests include regional literature, vernacular practices, Japanese folk music, and critical theory. His side activities include literary and academic translation, playing shamisen, and the incorporation of tabletop gaming into English conversation settings.
